So this winter at one of the many boat show I purchased a new goode depth marked anchor rode. The directions that they provide for loading the rode into the windless suggest that you go into open water and let the line out; attach it to the anchor locker and slowly bring the line back in.
This process concerns me greatly; as the new rode is 400' and 75' of chain. So how do you let out that much rode while not fouling your props? Secondly during this period you are creating a hazard to other boaters. And finally; what would one do if they had to anchor in an emergency during this process?
Is this the only way to load a new rode? Is there a way to do this on land?
Thanks in advance.
