Insurance and Mechanical Failure

The nuts came off 2 bolts. After that the bolts slid back and started to eat the tranny case.
It didn't break lose right away
Eventually it did snap the other 2 bolts and the tranny broke off the coupler.
So lost the coupler and tranny.
Towed in
Fixed and a week later we came home with her.
Mechanic checked other side and nuts were lose there as well.
When a boat is shipped, the props come off and the bolts are usually loosened to make the shaft flex in transit.
THey always get re-torqued by dealer
In fact regal ships their bolts with nuts in a bag tied to steering wheel.
My luck this dealer never prepped a boat over 32' before or a boat with inboards.

By bolts go through the coupler with the nuts on the transmission side. You couldn't put them in the other way if you tried. There is virtually no clearance between the flange and the transmission.
