Well, it's that time of year again for my insurance policy to renew, but the company decided to pull out of the Florida market. But I work with Boater's Choice now (affiliated with Mercruiser, I think), and they replaced the policy with another company. Only a 25% increase this year - yuk.

John, who was your policy with that isn't renewing?

Sorry, I don't have the name of the company with me. It places the insurance for Boater's Choice, which is the name on my card with all its emergency contact information on it.

OK, thanks...just wondering if it was the same as mine. I just got a non-renewal notice last week for the same reason...no longer writing policies in Fla. Last year I took out a policy with Progressive for my son's Whaler. Simple on-line proces and the rate was reasonable. I'll probably contact them about my boat when my current policy exprires in May. I once had All State on a boat I owned about 30 years ago. It sustained some storm damage and not only did they deny the claim, but they immediately cancelled my policy. Never used them since for anything.

Notices were sent out by the insurer for the USPS (St. Paul) that they were not renewing any boat policies for boats(hurricane Alley) older then 10yrs OR values over $100,000 So my boat didn't qualify.
I was directed to a Broker in Ft. Lauderdale who handles past hurricane issues along with full Hurricane coverage. It turned out that he was almost 2k cheaper then Boat-US and along with better deductions.
If anyone is interested in that information just send me a note.
I will be happy to send it along.
