Hi you All,
bought a new house, got a better insurance quote ( was at AAA before) but lost boat insurance at AAA, because they say the boat is part of the home!
Looking for another insurance seems to be complicated, as our boat is build in 1972 and made of steel.
Any tips?
Thanks DagO

Recommend Boat US. If it's outside their underwriting guidelines, they will sometimes suggest an alternative.

I have my boat under my AAA homeowners, but they will not list my marina as "an interested party" something my marina's insurance requires. So I also have Boat US. Double insured for a 16 yr old boat! Holy cow....

There is a great local agent who specializes in marine insurance. Of all the people that I have sent there, everyone has said it was their best uote for the best coverage. Their web site is www.boatinsuranceonly.com tell Gary that Dave Witte sent you over. I think you'll be pleased.

Thanks for the tips. Dave, I already have asked Gary from twin rivers, but they also ask for a ultrasound before they cover the boat.
I guess I switch back my home insurance to AAA and renew the boat insurance, if it is not to late!
I thought at least liability is mandatory in CA, but obviously that isn't the case?
Don't dare to leave the dock without liability at least.
Will keep you informed

The law does not require insurance for a boat in CA. However, anyone would be a fool to not have at least liability insurance.

You might try Allstate. They insure boats too.

Global Marine Insurance took good care of me.
just put all that together with a dot com and you will get to them. Very competitive.
