Anyone have any good recommendations on insurance for a 1975 53’ hatteras? I may have something in the works

my experience has been that i am unable to insure my boat for real replacement value due to her age

i would be happy with an abnormally high deductible

my only concern is total loss due to fire/lightning strike/sinking etc

Similar situation with us. My usual company, Farmer's, wouldn't touch my houseboat. State Farm had the coverage with the previous owner and they wrote a new policy for me after I had a survey done. They wouldn't insure it for the full purchase price, I think it's about $5k less, and I certainly won't get back the additional value of my improvements in the case of a total loss. I may revisit that with them next month after the rest of the improvements are finished. Calculated risk...one we're prepared to assume.
