A regular hardwood also shows nice on a boat in place of carpet. I prefer woods over carpet but we did choose to stay with carpet in the salon and both staterooms for now.
No offense Russell, but that's an awful lot of grey. Rip that volour off the wall and recover it with something
you may be able to get from a boat manufacturer.
vinyl it is,that is what I was thinking and seems to be the popular suggestion, thanks for your input and your patiance on me learning to post pics. still halk to figure out how to make smaller, iam working on it.
We both have the same maroon/grey combination. It's surprising how wellthe fabric has held up.
Keep in mind that some of the International Series sported gelcoat in a variety of shades. Some had a slight beige tint some were a true white while others (mine included) have a slight grey tint to the gelcoat. I considered changing the maroon transom to a nice soft chiffon yellow and complimenting that throughout the vessel, eliminating the maroon, however when holding that white chip next to the glass we realized just how much grey there is in her. The result was new maroon paint on the transom and repainting the factory silver and black stripes. We kept the canvas in maroon. WHen we redo the cockpit and salon we will keep some grey and maroon, but just not as much. (express cruiser)
Just remember that your colors all need to FIT together.
ask around in fabric stores and you will likely find inexpensive furniture reupholsterers working out of small shops.
It is surprisingly inexpensive to reupholster all that furniture if you shop the fabric and work. Vinyl may be OK on some of those kick pads but why not follow the example above and use wood flooring on some of those vertical panels
such as the handrail area for a more upscale appearance.
ALK, I noticed you mentioned Flexsteel. I dont work there, but, many of my friends do, and I live about 8 miles from thier plant. It is not widely known, every so often, like 1 or 2 times a month, they have a large sale there, and you can buy not only new perfect furniture ( ie couches, beds, chairs etc. ) but also scratch and dent or ones that have some small flaw, and all of it is much much less than you pay at the store or retail. This might be something for you to concider if you live near here or going to vacation in the area, and have some ability to haul some of it. I might even be willing to help in some ways if you needed it picked up and stored for a while...D........
