And any loose connection in the starting circuit may be squeezed tighter just the critical amount to flow current when the normally-contacting metals involved are expanded by residual engine/ engine room heat.
Ironically , I believe even the heat from the resistance of high electrical current trying to flow through any slight contact can have the same effect with electric motor-type loads.
Keep in mind also , in motor circuits, lower than normal voltage getting to the solenoid demands abnormally high current that can weld the contacts of a the solenoid relay or cause other damage.
