1988 Merc 5.1 Alpha Drive. Wouldn't go into neutral. Shift interrupter switch was not working. Replaced the entire shift mount bracket, which came with a new switch. Still would not come out of gear. Test light indicated that no power was in the 2 wires going to the interrupter switch. I thought that the actual ignition current traveled through these wires to the switch, which breaks the ignition circuit for a millisecond. Obviously not, as the engine runs with these wires disconnected. I don't get it???? Nothing happens when I touch these 2 wires together. Where is the source for power to these 2 wires???? Trying to avoid untaping the entirfe wiring harness to trace the 2 wires.
