Inverter wiring ?

I have a three position rotary "Blue Sea" power distribution switch. One feed is from the Genny and the other feed is from shore power, both leads go to the power panel.

If an inverter were to be connected by an Electrician would I need a new switch ?

The wiring diagram on the Blue Sea website says nothing about this "third" option.....
 
Most of the time, an inverter will feed a subset of your 120v circuits. It will have its own built-in switch. You will run a 30 amp, 120v circuit to it. If it senses 120v, then it will switch that through to the sub panel. If not, then it will power that sub panel via batteries and the inverter.

So, it will be wired "past" your Blue Sea switch. The input to the inverter's built in switch will come from either shore power or generator depending on how you have the rotary switch set.
 
No, when using a marine inverter with bird in transfer switch, power goes from the rotary to the main panel which is split into two section.

1)- non inverter powered loads like water heater, oven, stove, battery charger, air con
This is fed directly by the rotary switch

2)- inverter powered loads: lights, outlets, microwave, TVs, etc.. Which is disconected from nr 1

You add a breaker (usually 30amp) to section nr one which feed the inverter. The inverter output goes to section nr 2

When shore power or Genset is on, the inverter senses it simply lets power pass thru to nr 2
When shore power or Genset is off, the inverter switches over to inverting and feeds nr 2
