I installed a 750 watt inverter on my new Silverton. The DC side went well and is on it's own breaker and works very well. I ran the AC side black wire through the existing breaker after disconnecting the feed side of the breaker so it would power the two outlets connected to the breaker and ran the green and white wires to their respective buss bars. I had a commercial electrician review this as I did it as he is a boater too and owns an Ocean Alexander with a large inverter. I actually own two inverters one being Black & Decker and the other brand I do not remember. When I turn the inverter on it trips the inverter out instantly. I can plug any AC device into the inverter directly and it works fine but does not seem to like being part of the whole boat common and ground systems. I presume this is a safety part of the portable inverters and I need to install a larger/better inverter. What brand and size do you people recomend for a 34-38ft. bridge boat?
