I think it does add to the shine. It is a much finer texture than compound, and leaves a smoother surface. Better yet after the polish dont use wax, use a polymer type coating, they attract and hold on to less dirt than wax.
I've used polish and FWIW a good coat of wax lasts longer for us. The wax seems to seal the surface better and make it easier to remove black streaks. Just don't use a soap that removes wax. There are a few that specify this on their label.
Greg, thnx for response.I've been buffing & waxing my boats for the last 30 years.A few weeks ago I used B.M.&P.P. I got great results. What impressed me most was the fact that I was able to remove baked in old wax swirls on the front of the bridge where it is most obvious. If BM worked this well initially,I can imagine how much better it will work next time around.
I have been putting 2 coats of Collinite Wax on after using Buff Magic followed by a coat of Pro Polish. Is this over kill or a good system ? I did get a ton of complements on the finish on my 1996 Sundancer when I was done. Thanks for any and all feedback.
Don't know what effect the collinite wax has on the Pro Polish, but the second coat of wax probably takes the first coat off! Second coat of a polymer like Pro polish, won't take the first coat off.
I thought it was recommended to remove all the wax before using the PP, like what the BMS does. However 4theboat is putting it on over two coats of wax. Shouldn't the PP go on first if it is to be used with any wax at all?
In my opinion it is. You MAY be defeating the purpose of the Pro Polish. I don't use wax anymore as it causes yellowing of the gel coat and it attracts dirt. My Gel coat has never looked so good for so long since I stopped using wax.. It wasn't you that was confused, it was me.
