Just read this while applying for customs stamp.

Any small pleasure vessel leaving a United States port into international or foreign waters, without a call at a foreign port, does not satisfy the foreign departure requirement. Therefore, certain fishing vessels, cruises to nowhere, or any vessel that leaves from a United States port and returns without calling a foreign port or place, has not departed the United States.

If one would depart from fla., carying enough fuel for return trip, Fish offshore and enter Bahamian waters but do not go ashore.
Are you required to report to Bahamas or US customs??

If you enter Bahamian waters without clearing you are breaking Bahamiam law. If you fish too, you are breaking two laws.

You need to clear into the Bahamas and then clear back into the US.

bill is right, if you anchor in bahamian waters, go ashore, dive, snorkel or most importantly if you fish you are breaking bahamian law! dont' even think about it... they really want to collect the $300 clearance fee and get that all important signed healt declaration to know if any one or any rat died on the voyage...

Pascal,
I have always signed in at Imig./Customs when going to Bahamas and have no intention of doing otherwise. Would be a crappy trip watching and wondering about Bahamian marine patrol checking on us.
I guess I just don't understand the paragraph in my first post.

teh first parag. means that if you go out beyond US waters and come back without stopping anywhere, you dont' have to clear back in. As far as the US is concerned, you could go fish all you want in bahamian water and come back without clearing...

"Would be a crappy trip watching and wondering about Bahamian marine patrol checking on us."

Of course the reality is, the odds of that happening are about the same as winning the lottery.

Bill
If that did happen, should we make a run for the USA,[:-jump2] or break out the Capt Morgan and try to start a party with our Bahamian neighbors?[:-party]
