This may have been batted around here before but I did not know of it. Some boating forums have a classified section....buy, sell or trade but most of it is nationwide. Could we have a local or at least California trader section that of course would not allow commercial ads. Has it been tried before or is it even do able on this site. Just curious

I don't think it has been done on BE except for the one which is for everyone. I like the idea, but I also know that Les is not very willing to create another forum. And everyone can read this one anyway. Maybe, if Dave aka AbsoLoot agreed, he could present it to Les. Of course he would have to agree to be the Moderator of that one too.

A simpler was would be to just enter a "New Topic" named For Sale from this forum. Then put the info in the body of the topic. If everyone limited the title of the "New Topic" to For Sale, it would be easy to search via g00gle at the bottom of the page......

Other ideas?

I would hate to cause more work or hassle for anyone but it doesn't help a lot of us out here if there is a heck of deal on some item back in New York. I agree it would be simple to have the ..New Topic.. sale buy/sell/trade idea. But I would hate to have commercial venders clogging up the works here with all kinds of stuff and ads and the like. Don't quite know how to stop that. I mean if I want to sell my boat that would be ok but if Ajax Yacht Sales jumps in with ten boats a day.....well that just wouldn't do I echo you....ideas??

Les's policy has been that items for sale by the owner (not brokers or commercial dealers) can post for sale ads in the forum set up for it. I have limited time to watch over this forum, so I'd rather not see it opened up to for sale items. The For Sale forum doesn't get that many postings so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle to look through them to see ones that are local.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks Dave......I understand completely and appreciate all those that make this forum happen.

One thing that I would have no objection to is to post your item in the for sale forum and then put a notice here in our local forum letting people know. That would keep the traffic in the for sale forum, but let all the locals know about an item that is being offered. Hopefully that will help.
