It figures!

Butch believe me we're kicking that around lately. What with fuel costs it's tough to justify the trip. We just ran the numbers between going to Charleston and staying in Jacksonville and it was huge (for us anyway). Maybe 3000 bucks if we merely leave the boat in Fl. and pay the insurance.
If we brought it back North, we're talking mucho more. We're thinking it's not going to happen if we want to be in these great boating waters again. While we'd really enjoy doing the loop, perhaps Maine etc. it's too damn expensive and what with the nipple head we have in the oval office, it ain't gonna get better.

Someone needs to build a Hydrogen powered boat that can be filled with sea water. Then we could all do the loop. wouldn't that be cool.

Butch mine fits just fine in fact it was my wife who asked my to make it bigger.

Mine fits fine too, I guess Bob is having problems.

I never saw guys argue over size before. We all know that size doesn't matter. At least that's what I've been told.

We're not arguing, Butch is just feeling inadequate.

My wife doesn't call me Tripod for nothing.

Watch out Mike, I'll hit you from here.

Dave, its only money...

Dan,
I'll take your trip and the cost any day of the week when winter starts up here. I'm jelous. Enjoy the weather.

I must say for a while I wanted bigger as well. Then I realized that if I found a place smaller and tighter to put it that it would have the same effect and I could save the money to find another place to put it. [:-eyebrows]

Bob, you need to get your hearing checked, she calls you "pea pod".

WOW I didn't see this coming.

I just checked my Email and heard back from Swim-platform.com they said that they can make a custom platform for about $2500 this may plus options like ladder vents and moldings. It looks like it would be under $3k plus shipping know I'm interested.

Bob do you think I could make a small ramp to slide my dink into the water using the davit? This would eliminate the need for a platform lift and would be mush cheaper then an extension for the davit.

It's only money when you have enough of it. I don't, at this point it a college fund.

Dave, look into the system that John got.

Aren't you too old to start college? ;)

Remember, If you are measuring in winter, you have to allow for shrinkage.

you have it give me a hint what did he get?

Ask him, I don't want to post because the guy who sells it got kicked off BoaterEd for promoting his business.

I use a tip on system that I bought used from WalterV for only a few hundred bucks. (New was about $500 at the time) Since then the manufacturer has jacked his prices up to almost $1000 for what is basically a few bent pieces of aluminum. A ridiculous price for the product IMO.

The system works well but it is over priced and there are several fabricators that can make you one for much less then the guy that got kicked off of here. (What can I say but I'm an ardent anti-spammer and hate promoting his business)

Email me and I'll give you the info on the fabricator.

Nautical creations made the same davit for my boat and also for another friend, he will make anything you need and for a great price. He stands by his work and always a great guy to deal with.

You mean to say he made something that functions similar to John's but isn't a copy and doesn't infringe on any US Patents....................right?

I appreciate the input but at the moment I'm not sure I would need anything. The Davit I have may by able to swing out to the side enough to clear a platform. if not I wouldn't need much help to push it off.

Mike I went up to your boat today and took several pictures of you platform supports and sent them to the company to see what it would cost to make. The price I was given includes stainless supports as many as 6 but I like the design of yours and Bobs better, it looks very sturdy. I'm waiting for a list of options with pricing but the price looks good so far.

I know this is morbid but I read a story about a boat going to the Bahamas that sank because the platform caused a transom failure. Make sure Trojan is ok with this.
