Been working on getting the boat ready to launch this week and took some pics of how nice the hull is turning out again this year.

Buff Magic applied with a paint brush very sparingly, buffed at 14-1800 rpm on a dewalt rotary. All followed up by Meguiars flagship polymer wax being removed by a yellow polishing pad at 1800 rpm. Finally wiped down with a clean microfiber to remove dust and any leftover wax residue.

I admit I have stayed on top of the maintenance since new but it still amazes me how nice the gelcoat comes out after owning this boat 17+ years.

An added bonus is my new silver striping on top of the navy stripe. It used to be gold.

Looks good Ray- glad I am not having to do the labor though! :)
When do you splash?

P.S. new website looks nice.

Thanks Tony, will be in at the beginning of the 2nd week of April. A little later than usual for me but I'm enjoying taking my time this year vs. rushing to get things done.

Nice Ray. Did you do the stripe yourself? I'm going to haul out in a few weeks, and I was thinking it might be a good time to change my stripe from gold to silver.

Seth, I did do it myself. I ordered the stripe from 3M and removed the old one. Even though the boat doesn't have any oxidation you will still see a nice line that will let you line up the new one just perfect.

Nice job. If you were in R.I. you would be getting ready to protect her from another anticipated 6" of global warming!

Not at all, if you're applying that much pressure to start tearing up a stripe you are A. Using the buffer wrong and B. Shouldn't be buffing anything!

Seriously, Buff Magic is not anywhere near as abrasive as other gritty compounds.

I just finished my second year of using Buff Magic, and the hull is really starting to look good.

Yours looks better than the day it left the showroom!

I had a guy put a gloss meter on the boat today and it was reading 97-101 in all spots on the hull. The factory spec for leaving the factory is supposedly 87.

Every year you use Buff Magic, older oxidized hulls just get better and better. The stuff is magic.

I love it and use it on everything, metal, gelcote, glass, plastic. Great stuff.

Looks great!

Are you using Meguires Flagship in paste or liquid form?

What you see there is Buff Magic only. I use the liquid meguiars flagship on the hull and leverage or rejex on the topsides from the rubrail up.

Just curious, why wax on the hull and polymers topside?

Flagship is actually a polymer. I have been doing it for years I guess I just keep with what works. On top I put a maintenance coat on 2 or 3 times a season to keep things fresh and its very easy with the leverage.

Check the label on that Flagship bottle. Says wax the way I read it.
