Who's heading to the delta for the Mandeville Point Hilton House Fireworks? If family obligations allow, I'll be watching from afar like the Bedrooms or Mildred Island to avoid the mayhem. Is anyone's interested in a Mildred raftup?

Al,

We hope to anchor at Mandeville Tip, but might stop by Mildred for a visit. Please do the same if you make it up to Mandeville. Happy Independence Day!

I'm planning on just cruising through the Mandeville Tip area today to check out the insanity. Will be off to Marysville tomorrow for the 4th ... with a couple coolers full of mudbugs.

I cruised though the Three River Reach/Mandeville Tip area today. Lots of boats - everything pretty low key still. There was a group of boats at the Reach cranking hiphop/gangsta rap loud enough to be heard for about a half mile away. My sympothy to the folks in that area who will to listen to that for the next day or so.

We cruised through Mandeville in the ski boat today. A lot of fun the kids had a blast with the water fights. We were pretty much out gunned by every other vessel but it was a fun way to cool off. Spent the rest of the day up toward B&W skiing, wake boarding and tubing.

Another perfect day on the Delta!

Al, look forward to seeing you at Oxbow again this year. We will be arriving on the 5th.

Kris

We're heading out in about an hour. Headed for Mildred Island. May pass by Mandeville to enjoy the show.

Kris, August 5th, I presume? We'll be passing through between the 7th and the 14 of August. Look forward to seeing you and the family.

We've been tied off of Hog island since friday morning and will either go to Mandeville or the downtown Stockton show tonight in the ski boat.

Hope you all have a great 4th. Be safe out there.

We had a great time yesterday and last night on the delta. We slowly cruised through Mandeville and saw Absoloot and others in the Bayliner Club rafted up in the thick of it. We opted to continue on rather than crashing the party.

We dodged (apparently drunk) dingies trying to make our way through the Reach...even having to throw the engines into reverse to stop and avoid a dingy who apparently didn't see us idling through the area until he was 25 yds off the bow and still headed straight for us! There must have been over 1000 boats in the reach alone.

After passing through the gauntlet unscathed, we counted our blessings and headed for the more peaceful waters of Mildred Island. Once there, we set anchor, launched the dingy and inflated the kayak. We had a great time enjoying the calm waters and met a fellow Californian owner from Disco Bay.

We watched the fireworks in peace as we listened to the show on Ch. 16, 17 and 22. Apparently, smoke from a fire on Bradford Island drifted over the Mandeville area and evoked all sorts of calls from loaded partiers. The LEOs had their hands full with the holiday revelers. It was a bit perversely entertaining listening to the inebriated calls coming into the USCG for things like when will the fire stop, what FM station will simulcast the music, and I've run out of gas again and need 5 more gals of gas! Some guys sounded so out of it, I wondered how they managed to key their mikes. I really think that whole experience would make a great reality TV show! Better than any Spring Break at Lake Havasu cop shows!!

Through all this, we gained a greater appreciation for the peace and quiet of Mildred Island. After a romantic night and a restful slumber, we awoke to birds chirping and fresh air. Ahhhhh, you gotta love The Delta!!!

Al, that would be 7/5. Spending two months in the Delta this year! Hope to see you. Great trip out today.

Kris

After installing a new 17 cubic foot fridge (got it for $299, thanks appliance rebate program!) we headed out to Mandeville for a weekend of fun with friends. We ended up with seven boats securely anchored. We only had one mishap when a large boat crowded with people came in just before the show and dropped anchor just in front of our stern anchors; within moments he had our stern anchor line wrapped in his prop and started pulling our raft up. Luckily his bow anchor caught just before he collided with some other rafts of boats. We knew they were in trouble when they sent a 12 year old down to check the props. One of our boats quickly un tied the stern line from their boat and another friend and I went over in a dink to help. After several dives my buddy decided it would be best to just cut the line free. He quickly did that, we resecured the anchor and had the stern re-anchored within a few minutes.

Enjoyed good food, cool drinks and good friends. One the way in, we saw Fly Wright heading back to their slip. Now sitting in a beautiful hotel room on the Southern California coast in Rancho Palos Verde. Life is good!
