From the latest NTM.

"The DREDGE RICHMOND will be conducting dredging operations in the channel from the Chester River to Kent Narrows from 03 May through 08
June, 2007. The dredge can be contacted on VHF-FN channels 13 and 16. Mariners are requested to review the DREDGING AND MARINE CONSTRUCTION CAUTIONS notice at the beginning of this section. Mariners are requested to stay clear of the dredge and exercise extreme caution and no wake when approaching, passing and leaving a dredge operation location and to strictly comply with the Inland Rules of the Road. Chart: 12272."

The good news is they are dredging the channel.
The bad news is that on the busy weekends, if the dredge is operating, there could be some big traffic jams on the north side with a lot of operators who have no idea what the rules of the road are or who do not keep a radio watch.

I agree Mike.

Although, there was going to be a mess from all the stranded boats anyway.
:D

You got it carter Crew, it was at times an obstacle course between shipwrecks ...
I am on G dock and can see the channel from my slip, sure to be entertaining after Red Eyes' show is over on Sundays.

Seems I remember reading something the other day about some restrictions in regards to the Bay Bridge - no boat zone 250' on either side, prior clearance to pass under etc on Sunday due to the bridge walk? There will most likely be even more traffic than normal using the narrows....

Since we only draft 18 inches, we transited the Narrows channel on Saturday ... no signs of a dredge anywhere.

We did see one guy in-bound who got way off course ... those temporary markers are a real thrill going that way. He was pointing at us like he couldn't understand why were so far offcourse - sure enough he made a hard turn to port just about that time. Lucky he had outboards becasue he was way far to starboard.

lanbuilder is that the covered slip?

Where in the marina all weekend and went out on Saturday, no dredge. Had a very low tide on Saturday and strong winds, reaching 30 knots on Sunday.

The dredge however arrived this morning, saw her on the way to work.

Dredging is ongoing. The channel is still passable, we went through it twice yesterday to and from the Blue Angels. When heading out of Kent Narrows using the North Channel use the dredge as your red marker and hug it closely. It got very shallow. I had 2.3 feet under the keel at some point.

Alos a good idea to hail the dredge operator on Channel 13 for information. There were reports of three boats hitting the dredge pipe last week and at least one sinking.
