I am thinking of getting a 3000 watt portable generator for my boat. I have a 2000 watt inverter/charger. I guess the question is will a 3000 watt generator that run at 2600 watt at full load work with my 2000watt inverter/charger. I was not thinking and my Honda 1000 watt did not do anything, it died down after 3 minutes being hooked up. I want the generator for back up out on the water, I anchor a lot and would like that extra help incase I use my batteries up.

2K inverter....That's a sh!tpile o battery. I guess the question I have is what requires that much DC power? Are you better off with a 5-7K installed gennie as opposed to a strap on? There is ample room to put a gennie in the 340 ER.
