Trying to reinstall the fresh water pump housing, and getting really frustrated, I have been slowly manually rotating the prongs on the pump and trying to get it to inser in the holes, but the flywheel cover seems to get in the way. is there a trick to this to make it easier?

also just as an fyi the thing is mounted so close to transom, i cant fit my head in to see the piece fitting in. have to do it by touch and feel
 
Perhaps use a mirror and flashlight to see what orientation should work. Presumably if it came out with the FW cover on it should go back in with a lot of patience , yes? I sometimes use a cabled U/W cam and monitor to view the otherwise unseeable areas of the engines, etc..
 
it has to be lined up right there are few holes not all work you must use right set keep tuning the prongs trial and error to u get right set when you get right set in should fall in and then be easy
