KVH M1/M3 vs. Intellian i1/i2

I have HD and 7.1 sound in the house.
I have SD and 5.1 sound on the boat.
I am very happy with both setups and will not go HD on boat.
Again, for me the Intellian was the best product for the best price at the time.
Size was also a issue for me and weight, the KVH's weigh more due to the heavy fiberglass shell that fades over time.
The HD was a bonus that was not needed.

HD is a personal preference. I can tell the difference between HD and SD on a 26" monitor and certainly on a 32" monitor. My wife couldn't really care. 90% of my viewing is on the HD channels.

Most of my electronic purchases I suspect are for products made overseas. My auto purchases are about 50/50 american vs. imports. My boats have substantially all been made in California with a couple made in Florida. I won't even get into how much I pay in taxes. So in the end I really don't feel bad about buying the intellian unit. My research involved comparing the features of the different units vs. the price of the unit. If the two units were similar in price and features I would chose the American made product. Am I willing to pay a 25 to 50 percent premium because it was made in the US, probably not. For the percentage of my boating dollars invested in US made vs imports I don't feel bad for a second buying an import sat dish, tv monitor or other piece of electronics.

Patriotism is a complicated word. Probably not a fair statement to imply that one is not a patriot based on their choice of satelite dish purchase. Where the product is made is just one part of every purchase decision but wouldn't either make someone a patriot or not make them a patriot.

When was the last time anyone bought a TV made in America? Hard to find, why should I feel bad about the antenna. If I own a Ford truck but install a Sony stereo does this mean I'm not a patriot?

I do believe we as Americans need to get our act together and build quality competitive products but I just realized this is not NBR and I will stop here.

I to will buy the Intellian I2 because it seems like a better deal. Some day when I'm rich maybe I will change the way I shop.

Perhaps some lower salaries or more competitive pricing would help. Beware of Bankruptcy!
