Looking to anchor in Lagoon Pond for a week or so prior to picking up mooring in Edgartown on 7/27.
Using a 13' whaler as dinghy......Anyone done this ? - Problems ???
Thanks,

We go there often, but usually not more than an overnight. There is no dinghy dock, but you can pull up to the area by the launch ramp and leave it, or head out and over to Vineyard Haven (not an issue at all with your dinghy).

The bridge requires advanced notice, but I don't know any details (we can clear it). I've never seen a 40' boat in the pond, and your beam might be an issue as well.

Why not pick up a mooring in Vineyard Haven, then go to Oak Bluffs (Could also hit Cuttyhunk and Menemsha on your way in).

The younger ones (me too I guess) like to swim from the boat when possible, so we usually don't go to Edgartown (currents are too strong - you have to run a lifeline off the stern).

Two rocks is correct. I was there in my previuos boat, a 32' Wellcraft, about 6 yrs ago, Currents are tough, hang fenders off of the sides before going through. Not much going on at all inside the lagoon, channel is marked fairly well, maybe challenging with your draft. Just a bad location when compared to the alternatives.

Cuttyhunk, Menemsha, Hadley harbor, Woods hole, Oak Bluffs................
