I worked for the developer who developed these units at Lake Tahoe. I was his chief pilot and I spent a lot of time on the property. Recently, I returned while vacationing as this unit was undergoing renovation in September. Little did I know it would receive this kind of acclimation, but even in September 2013 it was impressive. It is Wall Street Journal's House of the Year. This is lake boating at it finest.

This area of CA is truly beautiful! Lake Tahoe is in a class by itself insofar as mountain boating is concerned. If you have not yet visited, do so. Well worth the time and expense. Having said this I'll still vote for coastal Maine and the warmth of South Florida!
 
Those slips look unusable. Does the lake get lowered and raised depending on the season?

Some amount, but not a lot. The docks are floating and do go up and down. No problem there. That harbor and the gates you see into the Yacht Club are where Henry J Kaiser used to keep his hydroplanes in the winter.
