Lake Lanier drought pictures

We should definitely be north of 1060 by end of the weekend if this rain rolls through like they're saying. Right now we're at 1059.17 so not far to go! We haven't been up to this level since September 27, 2007! Only downside to all of this is a lot of the beaches we went to last season are going to be under water! But I'll take it.

Greg, did you move to your new slip yet? :)

Does Lake Lanier have restaurants around it you can drive to? I may have a trip to Atlanta in a few weeks and if I have some extra time may drive up to look around. Any suggestions?

Planeguy ... let us know when you will be in town ... maybe you can catch
an AOBOBROANBRAM meeting and become an associate member !!!

The rain is coming thru La. tonight and supposed to last a couple of days.

Woody, just came in the door, whew! Moved her today. She looks good, but she looks like a C in a D cup if you know what I mean! When I get the Waverunner alongside (they released it from the factory in Newnan today, I am the first to get a 2009 FX-HO) it will look complete and.....ahem....full!

Planeguy, there is a burger and frys place at Holiday Marina. In Cumming, (exit 15 off GA 400) if you turn right you end up at our marina, Baldridge and if you turn left, the left again on the Atlanta Highway there is Gasthaus, a great German eatery. A little pricey, but worth it. Like Pete said, give us a heads up.

Glad to hear you got her moved...kind of a rainy day to be doing that though! You've got nice dock neighbors there on C though got to talk to quite a few of them in the process of the 368.

As far as the place at Holiday Marina...I haven't been back since they served me the most pitiful marguarita I think I've ever had in my life. We used to eat there now and then but I don't think we have been back since spring of 2008 when they gave me that margi.

Lanier is definitely short on quality waterfront restaurants. You'd think we'd have at least one really good one right on the water with docks and a view. Allatoona has a great little dive on the water rb2@gr5t Little River.

I agree on the lack of good eating places and I don't know why. There certainly is enough traffic to support it. As for Doc Holiday's (or any other Lanier eatery) I would not go beyond a beer there personally.

The sandhich place rb2@gr5t bald Ridge isn't bad (good gyros!) but no atmosphere and just a view of the parking lot. I am sure a lot of the lack of waterfront eateries is due to issues with corps leasing/licensing but surely there is a way to make it happen.

Hey I just had a good idea! A lake lanier forum or a southern water ways forum would be a great place for us to all discuss this type of stuff!! :) haha

Sounds like you are an expert on corps leasing/licensing...let it rain!!!

i had a little bird recently shed some light on the licensing issue. :)

1059.32 right now at this hour!

We're at 1060.82 right now! That's the highest the lake has been since September 10th, 2007!!! And- more rain on the way this week. It's funny how everyone around here is complaining about the rain though. I think boaters and ducks and fish are the only ones loving all this rain.

I don't think 1065 is out of the question if we keep this trend.

We just had another gusher come thru here today.
Get ready for it over there.
You guys will be able to boat all the way to the
Keys inland if this keeps up.

Lowest was 1049. She broke 1061 at 0600 this morning. 10 more feet to go to full pool.

Wow, over 20 feet of water difference, prety drastic, much have been very wild to see so much of the lake that is normally underwater.

I (and I have to imagine many others who have been watching this thread for quite a while) would love to see recent pictures, especially of MM's well that has been used as a reference. Glad to hear the water is coming up so nicely for you guys. Hope it's a good season.

Ben

We finally I think although it is unannounced have a "change of heart" in the management of the lake by the Corp. I think it may be due to the lack of money flowing into the Corp coffers. They suddenly realized the marina leases they have don't get esclations and nets when there is no water. Money talks.

It wasn't that they had a change of heart. They just had to learn to quit paying so much attention to the computer models and look out the window and see what was happening in the real world.
