Lake Lanier drought pictures

Yes! Now if I could only predict stocks as good.

3.65' below full pool right now at this moment! I'd guess it'll be at full pool by end of the week???

I notice that the lake jumped up over three feet very quickly. Did you get that much rain to cause it, if so, everything must be under water.

Up another 1/2 foot since Woodsong's posting as of 0600 this morning.

Lanierians, if you saw the news last night about the docks up BRC- we went for a cruise this afternoon and saw the devistation from the storms. WOW! Docks tossed ALL over the place, one boat half sunk, a few grounded, lots of trees down...crazy. Go around the finger to the next cove though and nothing!

Go back to page 4 to see my other pictures of our dock. Here is one from the parking lot today. Note all the slips are now in the water and very much so! Also, if you go back to page #1 aand look at the first pics...the dry ground with all the concrete blocks exposed between the docks is just to the left of our dock in this pic- all 100% underwater. Here's to a full lake (or nearly so) this summer!!!

Oh yeah...that Carver 36 you see in the first slip to shore on the right...just got her sold today! BTW, a certain RO needs to change their ownership profile!! People are doing deals and shopping- spring is here. :)

Here's a picture that I took this afternoon with the lake level now at 1067.89 - about 5' higher than this pic that Tony took earlier this year - big difference. Will try to get some other comparison shots from the originals last year for you all to see.

Nice to see your playground looking healthy again. The pictures showing no water were sad.

I'll try to re-create the originals so you can see the difference - it really is unreal - hard to capture in a pic vs. seeing it - over 15' difference - that would be some high tide for you guys on the coast.

Great to see that guys! Looks like you'll have some boating for the November and December holidays. Are you having much of a problem with floating debris or haven't you had a chance to get out yet?

Interestingly, they just had a big shoreline cleanup project Saturday when the water levels were just starting up. There was way less debris than I expected. Tuesday was a very nice "springlike" day. I pulled in a few docks, even removing a few expansion sections of cable. Helped my neighbor retrieve his jetski that been beached a few feet above waterlevel and tied up. Funny enough though, they'd tied it to a dock float. The rope held, the waterlevel didn't..lol. There were tons of fish topwater feeding. Strange weather and a strange day.

Here are a few pics from this weekend, showing the first two views, plus a view of our dock and finally the service/haul out dock - what a difference 15 or 20' of water makes!!!

That gentle walk down our dock would almost be worth coming home from FL to experience but not sure even that is enough to entice me back to Atlanta!! ;)

Amazing how full Lanier is now.

Ted,
Thanks for the update, I have seen lots of Tonys pictures on that lake, when I saw the water going away, I felt the pain. Very happy all is good now.

PS,
Looks like a great place to boat

Yesterday was beautiful out on the lake - if we could just get Tony home from FL he could enjoy it too!

9/26/2011 Funny how things change or is that remain the same.... Right now we are down to 1062.72 today. The lake is really low in my opinion. I was having so much fund this summer I didn't really notice we are back in drought conditions. I would venture to say there are more markers out of the water than in the water. Lets pray for rain.. I will post a few pics from this weekend. It was interesting to look back in this thread and see what it was like in Sept 2007, Sept 2008 and Sept 2009. We didn't post anything in 2010 since we had water and were fat dumb and happy. Now we are back down in Sept 2011..
