How much time should I allot for crossing the lake? We are coming down from Canaveral with a final destination of Naples.
Thanks,
Jeff

Depends on your cruising speed doesn't it? Also will depend on water levels in the Lake, I think it's still pretty down.

We did it east to west in 2001.

Most of the locks were open, perhaps at 3 or so we had to wait.

Left Peanut Island at daybreak and fueled up in Stuart.

We docked at the Ft Myers municipal marina about 5PM andhad a nice dinner downtown.

It's a nice trip except for the boring part.

Watch out for leaves being sucked into the raw water intakes. We had to swim the boat once diring the trip to clean out the debris. Now we have a fresh water flushing system and we can easily backwash the system.

Great trip!

Cruising speed would be important. 28-32 depending on my mood.

We did it in December. You most likely will not make it in one day. Firstly check your draft. There is only four feet. Secondly, the outside locks St. Lucie and Franklin only cycle twice a day (10am and 3pm). They cycle out bound first. For Example... you get to the St. Lucie lock at 10AM. You will not exit west until 10:45AM or 11AM. You need to get to the Franklin lock by 3pm. Nearly impossible.
