I'm in Louisville on business, this morning watching the barges and some pleasure boats on the Ohio River in beautiful 65F weather. I felt compelled to pick up the phone and schedule my boat launch for April 16th. What do you all have planned...who's already in?

First weekend in May. Still have to finish the ac install, underwater lights, extra battery and inverter. Lots to do plus the regular maint. and cleaning.

Gunning for first weekend in May. Clean outdrives, wash/wax hull, touch up bottom paint....

Looking for the last of April or first of May as well. Another 4 inches of snow yesterday rules out taking off the shrink wrap today but we'll be in the mid 50's by mid week. Bring it on!

Looking for the last week of April. I am also installing underwater lights as well as a transom mounted lift for the dinghy. Using the davit from the deck above has proven to be a real pain.

Asked the marina to have her in the water ready to go for April 18...

First weekend in May as others have noted. In my case, insurance policy for inland lakes doesn't cover in water until 1-May

Docks went in last weekend and we got on the water at high tide this morning. She started right up, all systems are doing what they should and she's tied up behind the house right now. Did some entertaining on board with the neighbors tonight and now it's all about waiting for some decent weather. Rain and fog on tap for tomorrow but seas will only be 2 to 3 feet so we might wander down the coast anyway. Anyone else out along the Maine coast?

It's May 5 and my very old boat is ready to go into the water. I'm in Portland, CT, so we have to deal with the spring flooding. I'm on the list for May 12. I hope that works out.

Because our boat is wood, it takes a couple of days to swell, although it doesn't leak. Then, it's down the CT River with a big 4-knot current with lots of stumps and other junk just below the surface. Have to take it easy until Essex or Old Saybrook. Then down the Sound to New London and up the Thames to Norwich, where we stay for the summer.

We have to be careful this year and pick our cruise destinations carefully. Gas is too expensive to play around. Block for a week; Jamestown RI (a favorite) for a five-day long weekend and Greenport for another week. That has to be it for this year. Too bad it couldn't be more but it is better than being on land.

A great summer to everyone here.

lucky you! [:-drool]

we won't splash till probably the second week in May - boo hoo - too many jobs to do - too little time -

The "big splash" is May 8th. Just finished doing the buff magic & pro polish thing. Other boaters walk by boat and comment on how good she looks for a 1987. Makes me proud! A few trips planned. Three mi. hbr. & and of course B.I. Can't forget about Mattatuck Hbr. to visit the vineyards!

I'm in the process of changin boats so will probably be a couple more weeks. I will be splashing my boat for a sea trial soon though, I guess that counts.

Steve - right behind you, and with Buff Magic too. Looking forward to TMH. It's the same weekend as the ACBS Essex show, but we are forgoing it this year. My classic is not ready yet for prine-time.

We have planned this year for Montauk, Mystic, TMH, and Block. All weather dependant. Of course many trips and overnights to The Cove. It actually has become one of our favotite places, and is only 1/2 hour away. Cheers!

Spike...I'm intrigued by your comment about "The Cove"...where is it and what makes it one of your favorite places?

Fltcha, judging by their locations, it's either in the CT river or nearby on Long Isalnd sound.

CT guys as an aside, I was just at Brers Pilot Point ot get my inverter serviced. That is one big facility. Looks likenice boaitng in the area, but I love being in Narragansett bay.

Fletcha, where do yuo hang out?

Yes, Hamburg Cove on the CT River between Essex and Deep River. Think you folks in RI have a place like that by Tiverton - under a bridge?? Was there for a nice afternoon once a few years back. Narragansett Bay is a great place to boat. We especially like Wickford.

There's "pirate's cove" in Portsmouth on the north end of the Sakonnet river. Nice place, depth is a litttle skinny. I spedn a lot fo time at Potter's cove on Pridence island, Lots of moorings and boats, fairly short ride from the marina.

Spike:
May go to "the cove" for the first "shake-down" cruise end of May. Look for us!

Allowed the cover to blow off in mid Mar. Frame still half up.

Up to my nether regions in home projects. Have to pull the plug (then duck & cover from Mom) and go to the boatyard.

Will be happy with June 15

What a world, what a world.............
