When I bought the wooden boat for restoration 10 years ago I bought some leaded topside enamel. A friend who was experienced in wooden boat matters told me it there was nothing better for certain applications. So, just before it was taken off the market here in Calfiornia, I bought the last gallon that the store had, got it tinted to match the inside hull color for my boat and had some fungicide thrown in for good measure. I repacked the paint in quart cans, filling them nearly to the top.

I'm going to repaint the rode locker so I'm thinking of breaking out one of the cans. I used some a few years ago for as a second primer coat for some plywood storage and bilge covers, so I know the paint is still good.

Is the lead paint better for some uses than the newer paints? If I want to put what I have left to best use, where should I use it?
