Leaking windshield

I have a problem, my windshield leaks around the base, and I have mold/mildew growing that takes a lot of cleaning and I'm getting water pooling.

I plan on removing the windshield frames and cleaning the bedding deck, here's my question: what is the best bedding material?

I have seen closed cell foam, but is that best? any suggestions would be great.
