1984 25 ft mark twain 350 260 hp was taking on water. had mechanic pull engine he replaced oring and resealed the y pipe. boat still taking on water i have camera that shows water coming in top and bottom of y pipe. mechanic says there is no way it could be coming in there even tho thats what pictures and video show. any ideas?

you had to remove the drive to remove the motor so any water in the bellows would have been evident.
You could have:
a leakng plug where the trim wires come thru the housing
a corroded hole thru the housing
a leaking gasket where the trim lines enter the transom

You have to be really specific when you say water is coming in at the top and bottom of the Y pipe. Remember water runs down hill so water coming in from the top of the steering shaft will show as leaking both from the top and bottom of the Y pipe. Equally, water leaking from the thru transom water tube would also look to be leaking from the top and bottom of the Y pipe.
We can be guessing all day and only one would be the correct answer. The rest sound like dorks.

I was wondering the same.
Also, when you last checked and found nothing, did you take it for a run or at least have the boat running and in gear at some point in case it has to do with a RW supply hose leak at the inner transom?
If you spray the boat with a dock hose, does it look like any water trail migrates to where you felt it was coming from previously?
yes we took it out to get it warmed up. i dont think it is caused by wieght of the water when you pump it out with bilge there is not much left. something i forgot to mention a few years ago the transom was replaced so everything as far as gaskets were al new. also the last time we cheked with camera boat was in the slip bilge was going on every half hour i was there 3 days bilge never went on once.
