Vic, where can I find out if my LectraSan is legal to pump overboard in Barnegat Bay area? Basically talking from Rt.37 bridge south to Rt. 72 bridge & anywhere in between.

Bob you and I boat in the same waters unfortunately Vic is correct. I still don't understand the EPA's logic on this since the LectraSan and PuraSan both exceed the specifications for discharge. I ended up having a larger holding tank and VacuFlush (low water volume head) to be able to spend any time on the boat without hoping the Wastewatcher pumpout boat is working or finding a working pump-out station. Sometimes I will run out to the 3 mile limit just to dump the tank. Regards Bill

According to the EPA, an area must demonstrate that they have an adequate number of operational pumpout stations (haw!) to service the boats that may be present on any given weekend. Then, they must give a good reason why the area should be made a No Discharge Zone. As Barnegat Bay is so shallow, their excuse (as scuttlebut would have it) is that they're trying to save the single remaining clam that lives there, from being polluted by either treated toilet waste from a boat, or the chlorine from said treated waste. The whole thing (to me) is a crock of BS!

Vic-- Massachusetts, locked at California's hip ( or other body parts in the same general area) on all things environmental, has declared its waters to be environmentally sensitive and no discharge is allowed. They don't even want wind mills!

On a good day one can see gulls circling just outside Butler Flats off New Bedford. I onec thought it was bait fish the gulls were after until I learned there is a pipe, about 10' in diameter pumping treated waste into Buzzards Bay. I guess it all comes down to "WHO IS DOING THE PUMPING!!"

Foggy

Foggy, now you've gone and broken the code! Tsk. Tsk. The black helicopters will be circling overhead very soon...
