We went to go for a short drive today and my port engine will start.
Ignition switch seems to be fine. The buzzer does not sound when I turn the key though. This would be the alarm for low oil pressure or high engine temperature.
Could a faulty sensor prevent the engine from starting ?
I swapped out the buzzer from the starboard engine and no change.

How do I check the sending units ? Are they all Normally closed ?

Does it crank?
Does it crank, sounds like it s firig but stops when starter is released.

No cranking at all.
I checked the temp sender that is threaded into the block and it is giving intermittent readings of continuity and then an open circuit ??

Unless Lehman did it very differently, a bad sensor will not prevent cranking. On a propulsion engine it will not prevent starting or Running as that could be dangerous in some situation. Better leave the decision to shut down to the captain unlike a generator which is typically run in monitored

Problem is that you have no power going to the motor when the key is turned. Start at the key switch and look for voltage coming in then going out when the key is turned. I m not familiar with lehmans so hard to troubleshoot without wiring diagram

Call American Diesel in Kilmarnock, VA. When It comes to all things Lehman, they are the go to people, hands down. They can diagnose problems over the phone better than most mechanics can sitting in your engine room.

Just checking since it is not cranking... you did 1st move the shift lever each way a bit while key was to Start in case the neutral safety start switch was not letting the starter energize, yes? You can also test that switch or jumper/bypass it temporarily too.

This has nothing to do with sensors.
No cranking or clicking from solenoids indicates no power. Is this on a seperate battery that is dead?

It took a while to solve the problem. A disconnected safety neutral wire on the transmission that was broken, probably stepped on during the fall layup.
Thanks for all of your help.
