After 8 fantastic years running Charmer (a 70 Johnson) we re turning the page and moving on... Long time BE members remember the webcam I had on trips up and down the ICW back then and of course that I met the owner of the boat thru BE.

Turns out a repeat charter guest of ours has outgrown Charmer and wanted to get his own boat, bigger, p with a friend / business partner while at the same time Charmer's owner was considering selling.

So... Charmer is going on the market (will post details soon In the classifieds) and we found our yachtaholic charter guests a very nice 2009 84' Lazzara sky lounge which fit their need perfectly.

We brought the boat from Naples to her new home in miami yesterday afternoon and are going to spend the next couple of months setting it up for the new owners needs and also for charter. Videos at YouTube.com/sandbarhopper

in the end, funny how things lead to another in life but in this case it all started because of BoaterEd since I met charmer's owner thru BE...

So thank you Les!!

That is some serious two-foot-itis! :)

I'm sure you will find it interesting. Keep us informed and/or puzzled.

Fair winds...

Outstanding Pascal! We'll be looking forward to some new web cam action...

That's an awesome story ! Best of luck and enjoy !

The best kind of boating. Someone else's boat!

Very cool - and congrats to the new owners of the Lazzara.

I always look forward to your posts, insight and knowledge.....keep it coming!

You have what everyone on this forum believes is a "Dream Job". Keep us posted on your progress....

Two footitis seems to be more like fifteenitis in my case, if I combine my own boats and the boats I ve run full time ... 24-39-53-69-84

In this case though, the size change is the easy part as the host handles like a dream. The systems are a lot more complex and different. Luckily the documentation Lazzara put together for their boats is a very thorough not just with diagrams and blueprints but actual pictures of the systems as installed. It s a real shame they shut down a couple of years ago, although there has been rumors of a come back, because they built a heck of a boat and right here Florida..

The boat is powered by a pair of cats, 1650hp C32s, and tops around 31/32kts. That in itself is impressive but what is even better is that at a slow cruise of 20kte, she only burns 70 /75 GPH. Not bad for a boat that size, and that is without trim tabs. And I don't mean not using trim tabs, they are simply no trim tabs on the boat, instead they fitted a very small fixed stainless steel vertical blade where trim tabs would be. The boat accelerates on plane without any significant bow rise

not sure if I ll set up a webcam as most of the runs without owners or guests will be to and from the Bahamas. Limited cell and not much to see but open water.

How is the rebuild of your Hat going

Niles

That's exciting news, Pascal! Keep us updated on how it goes. What will be the name of the Lazarra?

Great to hear about your good fortune. Good luck with her.

The hatt is going slow... Lack of time. The factory reman C series cummins are sitting in the dealers warehouse. Hoping to haul out and do the repower late this year

Glen She s being renamed La Balsita ... Means... Little raft :). Owners have a sense of humor !

I remember split-screening Charmer's web cam on the left of my computer screen/work on the right. Followed most of the way..up and down the ICW.

Don't forget the live chicken and sharp knife for the renaming ceremony. Got to keep Neptune happy. ;-)

I always thought that the libation for Neptune was the essential part... ;)

The Lazarra looks to be a wonderful update even if not more classic like Charmer. One could get lost belowdecks!
Congratulations , Pascal, on this terrific beginning of the next boating chapter in the saga of your amazing journey.
