Lightning strikes boat video

An advantage of old diesels is nothing to fry, they should just keep running.
 
I wouldn't be out in that for the entire $million purse. Crazy how they rushed out on deck to check their rods.

Yup, suddenly no Wake behind the boat. "All ahead stop!"

I was in a lightening storm on a lake nearby. I started the outboard and headed for the Ramp.
About 2 minutes of running and my motor quit.
I had to paddle over a mile, in a lightening storm, sitting on the Bow with my legs dangling in the Water, and lightening hitting the lake and surrounding hills all the time.
I was an Hour before I reached some guy's Covered dock.
Needless to say, I took a Nap laying on the Dock.
 
They dealt with the lines because they will get fouled with each other and the running gear. You need to get them in.

That said, while it is nice to troll through a bit of rain to rinse off some of the salt encrustations, trolling in an active thunderstorm is generally a poor plan.

( This from someone who has been zapped more than once by "not very near misses". It hurts and makes your heart go "pitter patter". )

btw: that looks like a ( sort of near ) miss. A direct hit would have crashes the camera, along with generating a very loud, or very silent, crew.
