I was thinking about changing my manual head for the new Lite Flush Toilet from Jabsco.
Dos anybody have experience with this??
Cant see were the inlet and outlet are placed??

Just heard about this new toilet and also wondered if anyone had comment.
I note that it's designed for raw water. As a lot of posters complaints concern the smell caused by the raw water intake, does anyone have info if this toilet is any different in that respect.
Thanks
David

If you want the best I would recommend the Raritan Marine Elegance.

I have two suggestions both from Raritan:
1)Marine Elegance
2) Se Era home size bowl. Everything depends how much you want to spend. And have the choice for raw water or dock/tank system.

+1. Excellent!

+3 for Raritan's Marine Elegance. The Jabsco guy says the flush of the Lite Flush is one QT. I believe the Marine Elegance on Water Saver (which works for just about anything) uses a pint. Be sure to get the Smart Control. The standard home-sized bowl is great too.

Advantages I see with the Marine Elegance over Lite Flush:

1 - With the Smart Flush Control, water usage is about half.

2 - The flush is more automatic. No need to add water first, and then flush twice.

3 - Full residential size bowl and seat vs. compact marine size.

4 - Marine Elegance doesn't look like something that was removed from a Soviet Block apartment building :-)

I don't have any personal experience with the Jabsco Lite-Flush; in fact, I haven't even SEEN one yet, other than in pictures. But what I do know is that the Raritan PHII is vastly superior to the Jabsco 29000 series manual toilet, and the Raritan SeaEra marine toilet is vastly superior to the Jabsco 37000 series electric toilet. So if you compare the Elegance vs. the Lite-Flush head to head, I'd have to lean toward the Elegance, based on how other Raritan products compare with those made by Jabsco.

Admittedly, the PHII is more expensive than the Jabsco manual toilet, but it will also outlast the Jabsco manual toilet by about 3 to 1. Plus, you can just buy the "LBA" (lower base assembly) for either the PHII or the PHC head, which consists of just the base and the pump; you transfer your existing Jabsco bowl and seat from the old unit to the new replacement - they're interchangeable! You can knock off a fair percentage of the cost by doing it that way, and you still wind up with virtually a brand, new head.

With the other lines of toilets and all the pricing myths set aside, the SeaEra and the Elegance are quite competitive, costwise, when stood up against their Jabsco counterparts.

A couple of things I can point out is that everything on the Elegance that "shows" is ceramic. The Lite-Flush has a plastic outer jacket on it, with only the ceramic bowl in the center, where you can't see it unless you lift the lid. So what you see when you look at it is more akin to a plastic hammock. In fact, they're trying to capitalize on the fact that they have a toilet that doesn't look like a toilet... Also, it isn't offered with the larger, household size bowl and seat.

My sense is that they're going primarily after the sailboat business, as they emphasize the fact that it is light in weight.

Because I draw my paycheck from Raritan, I admit I'm biased toward Raritan products. But I try to be as fair as I can, and I don't deliberately knock the other guy's product; sometimes the other guy's is actually better than Raritan's. But I think you'll find that the general concensus from the other RO's here on the Forum is that quality-wise, Raritan is better than Jabsco, albeit sometimes more expensive - but not always...

Raritan is great but twice the cost.

Where do you shop? That's not true at all:

Jabsco Lite Flush 12V Toilet w/Control Panel - $427

Jabsco Lite Flush 12V Toilet w/Footswitch - $395

RARITAN MARINE ELEGANCE 12VDC Push Button Control FRESH WATER - $395 (on sale at another retailer for $367 right now - Les might match?)

RARITAN MARINE ELEGANCE 12VDC with Smart Flush Control Fresh Water - $587

Well, maybe not twice as expensive. But the raw water model was allot more. That is the one I needed for my boat. The Flush Lite looks pretty interesting.I played with one at west marine and it offers some nice features for the price point. Time will tell if it holds up. I
had a Jabsco electric conversion for 8 years with no trouble other than the noise. I have a Wilcox Newport now and it works good too.

Noise? You mean the "grinder"? Yeah, we had one of those too. That's actually what I just replaced with the Marine Elegance. I wanted quiet so I went with a freshwater model. At 1 pint per flush, I think I can manage. The funny thing with the "grinder" is that I was on a Sunseeker a few years ago and they had the same Jabsco electric conversion. You'd think for the money they charge for those boats they could put something a little better in them.

Man that thing was loud. Thats really was the only reason I replaced it. The Newport is much quieter than the grinder but not as quiet as the Elegance or the Flush Lite. They were not out yet when I replaced mine. I almost bit the bullet and went with a Elegance last summer but the thing just did not seem fit good in my head. So I kept what I had just bought anyway. I really like the timed auto flush thing. Makes it easy for quests.

As long as the Newport is quieter than the "grinder", you're in good shape. How's the timed auto flush work? Does it get triggered by the lid or something?

Parkside Marina, huh? Over by the airport? We're pretty darn close.

Kurt you can actually program the Elegance for the water level you want. I agree mine uses about a pint in the Saver Mode. I started with a Jabsco, then tried a VacuFlush and finally ended up with the Elegance. I believe I got one of the 1st sold to the public 2 years ago. So far it has worked with no clogs and uses little water. Being it is mostly Ceramic it almost cleans itself.

Bill,

The lack of needing to clean the bowl has been really nice (too bad I have a stockpile of CP). With the muddy water we're in, the raw water head needed cleaning almost daily. This one's been in for weeks now (with use) and there's not a sign of dirt/stain anywhere. I might have to break out the manual again and see about tweeking the water usage. Right now it's doing it's job on water saver no matter what that job is. But for just "number 1" we could probably use a little less. I have to admit I'm a little confused on "normal flush" as it just seems to be 3 water saver flushes.
