Not much activity on the TB board so here goes...

Anybody have a good recommendation for local bottom painting either boatyard marina or other that is both reasonable and does quality work.

It's for a 22 Bayliner Ciera that came w/ factory ablative that is waring off....it is lift kept so not in a huge hurry but for cosmetics would like to look into costs

Thanks!

Lift kept, can you get under it on a raft to do this yourself?

If not, I used The yard in Cortez Kitchen - http://taylorboatworks.com/index.html

I was there for 6 weeks for other majors repairs/upgrades, including a bottom job. They turned over a few boats a day for bottom work. I'm extremely pleased with the results and price. Note that their prices don't include sanding (if needed)

Never done any bottom work and really don't know what it entails but I guess I could give it a whirl given the right direction....but what about where the bunks rest on the hull??[:-dunce]

Paint what you can get to now and let it dry, then set her back in the water until she floats free of the bunks. Force her to one side or the other until you think she is sitting on different spots than before. Lift and paint. Once dry, set her back down and line her up again.

The only place left on the east side of the bay that I know of is Interbay Moorings in Gibsonton. They did a good job for me in November. 813-677-2739

I assume that sanding down the remaining paint is necessary or can you paint right over the old ablative....If not, what grit is best and how much sanding is required?
