hello all, im glad i stumbled onto this site. i have some questions regarding the purchase of a 1989 searay amberjack 270. first off, what is a fair price for one of these boats, with and without a trailer?

second, is this boat ok for saltwater use? the boat in question has dual 5.7l mercruiser engines, recently rebuilt.

the boat will be mainly used in the caribbean for island hopping, and staying onboard while on vacation, and possibly lived on for a month or two when i stay.

is there anything about this boat, that would be unsuitable for saltwater use? are there any known problems with these models? how reliable can i expect this boat to be? i like the looks and the cabin of them, and the price seems very affordable... almost too affordable for a boat this size.

i appreciate any help, as i am new to boats... i have a boat with my dad on a lake, but never any saltwater experience. the boat would be shipped down to the VI's.

i also forgot to ask, what kind of gas mileage will this boat get in calm waters? can you modify the engines like a car engine, with things like a bigger cam and better heads? im assuming its not cheap as well. also, can you use just one of the engines, or must both be engaged at once.

probably to late but i have the same boat for 7 years in salt .nhparb2@gr5tnh.ultranet.com

Dino, write if you need any info
