My Electronics install guy found an issue with my port engine main wire harness/connectors.

Does anyone have a Volvo Diesel Tech that works out east that you can recommend?
Thx

I’ve got no personal experience with Steve’s Marine in Amityville, or with Volvo, but I understand they are the Volvo guys for gas and diesel on Long Island.
A couple of years back we were casually looking at Regals at the NY boat show. The dealer was from the east end (North Fork), the Volvo rep. was there to answer questions and pointed out that Steve’s Marine was their Long Island company for service, parts or warranty work.

Mako marine in Freeport is certified for both Volvo and Cummins diesel

Out east I have been using WESCO in Hampton Bays.
Deal with Justin, he is great.

Dave
Been reading alot of Bad stuff about Steves!
I have a call into Wesco- they did the Survey & head gaskets on my Cummins in the 41PC and was happy with them
Thx

Well it turns out that WESCO only works on newer Volvo's, just engines starting with 'D'
SO, im still looking for a Volvo Tech out east

Wesco is working on my D4.
Guess Mako marine is next best but they are in Freeport, so you will pay some big travel charge.

Strongs Marine may do it, not sure, they are out east. There has to be other Diesel mechanics. Hampton watercraft?

Strongs Marine was the company with the Regal display at the NY Boat Show. They introduced me to the Volvo guy, and the Volvo guy told me about Steve’s Marine.
Maybe call Volvo directly and ask them for names?

Volvo will give all the same names.
Volvo knows that we have limited mechanics on Long Island for Volvo's and they are trying to add more.

May be time to look at CT since they can just come over on ferry.

Ah the joy of owning Volvo. Here the local dealer was so arrogant that she gave me a ration of $hit for having Tony Athens speak at the YC. She was a member of the club and thought that only her dealership should be allowed.

Would it be worth a trip across the sound?

Stay away from Steve,s Marine. If your not a regular customer you’ll be at the bottom of the list. Regular customers are not happy but they are stuck

I window how hard they are looking. My mechanic
(located in Port Jeff) tried to become a Volvo-certified location. According to him, Volvo was not very interested in large part because he is not directly on the water. If that really is a requirement, that's a pretty darn hard thing to overcome on Long Island, especially on the North Shore. He's already Yanmar certified.

I doubt that is a requirement. Volvo used to be sold by Great South Marine on 25 in St. James.

They require alot of training. But most of the mechanics are mobile, so why would on the water matter.

I tend to agree, I dont think WESCO is on the water, just wish they worked on all models

Well it turns out my Nav guy sorted out the harness issue and im hoping to run the boat this weekend.
the bad news he has all the engine functions showing up on the MFD's and i see the GPH!

Still want to find a Volvo Tech I can depend on

Andy,
STEVES MARINE HAS A TERRRIBLE reputation.

Mako in Freeport was in riverhead a few times for a volvo and cummins .

They will travel and they send their head guy. I highly recommend them .

Just double check with Mako about coming to you. I had a small problem mid season last year, I could not start the starboard motor. After three calls, was told I need to bring the boat to them. I have heard good things about them though.

Walt, This is the first year they have a dedicated mobile Tech!

Rob

They did raw water side of both engines last year. They were there when they said and did the job in less time than quoted, answered every phone call and a pleasure to deal with.
