Does anyone have a recommendation for a quality and reasonably priced mechanic to install new gas inboard engines in a 31 Express boat. Boat is located in Pasadena, MD.

Ideally I would like to find an experience one man show without a lot of overhead to keep the price labor reasonable.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark: There are 2 brothers in Galesville, and I don't know how far out they go,,however they used to be the top mech's. for Carver/Silverton when on the Eastern shore. Been in business for yrs. and are very good. I'll search for the # but I believe it is ? Marine Engines Unlimited or something like that. Don and Lee Hardy. They are right around the corner from Pirates Cove Rest./ if you know the area.
Probably some good ones up that way though.

how well do the engines match up, because if there isn't too much fabrication to be done, that is a job you could do yourself without much trouble. You would just have to do it at the marina and pay the forklift. I pulled my engine and replaced a coupler last season and was able to do if for a little over a hundred dollars, as compared to my friend who paid a little under two thousand dollars. I would consider investing in tools and a book because it really isn't a terribly hard job to do at all. I pulled, worked on, and reinstalled mine in three days after work. Granted mine is I/O but it really isn't an impossible job. Good luck, and sorry, I don't know anyone. : )
