Hi All,
I am looking to visit NJ from LI NY. We will be coming out of the Fire Island Inlet on Long Island. Never been to NJ by boat, saw a post on the LICC forum about Belmar Marina, looks good to me.

We are planning a trip from June 28th till July 5th, please tell me your thoughts on places to stay and things to do.

Thanks
Walter

Channel Club in Monmouth Beach is nice, Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank is good. Enter both of thses via Sandy Hook/Raritan Bay.

Look at the list I posted on LICC

Walter, I replied to you on SOC. If you like give me a call and we can talk, Steve 732-241-1918

I understand the Molly is very nice- But they don't take boats with dogs

If you want to spend a free night in Staten Island - Great Kills Harbor on the Hook I know a Great spot your boat will be fine. I'm docked 1/4 mile away. Don't forget the Fireworks in Coney Island too.

Art,

Care to share that great spot with me? I was thinking about an overnight in G Kills this year. Advice on where to dine would be good too.

You can PM me if you like.

Jonathan

There are at least 4 good places to eat almost at the waters edge on the Port Side (by Staten Island Yacht Sales)as you enter Great Kills Harbor. The problem is you'll need to drop anchor & go asore. There is a launching ramp you can tie a dingy to or drop anchor & dingy ashore or do a Transient docking but no dock & dine right there? So when you get ashore it's about a mile from the places to eat.
The harbor itself is VERY well sheltered keep an eye on the channel markers & depths. The middle of the harbor depths get low but channels are minimum 9' or better at low tide

I'd have to say Belmar is a great place to visit. Lots of places to eat within walking distance - the beach is under 1 mile away, decent firworks up and down the coast at that time of the year, there's a WM across the street if you need anything and some of the best fishing grounds in the area are just outside the inlet.

If you go, I'm on dock H - stop by to say hi!!

OMG, New Yorkers been coming here by car for years, now they want to come here by boat?

In the planning process...

If we want to add a 2 night stop on our way to Atlantic City in August, would you guys pick Point Pleasant or Belmar?

Thanks!

If you have kids, Pt. Pleaseant.....otherwise...toss a coin or stay 1 night in each...they're not that far from each other. What marinal would you be staying at in the Pt. Pleasant area?

I haven't gotten that far. We will not have any kids with us.

I watched that Belmar Video & I'm making the trip there this summer for sure. 40 places to eat & that doesn't even count the Galley?

If you like Ruebens you have to try Kellys and then head over to Pete & Eldas (Carmens) for a XXL thin crust pie...get it well done with garlic....MMMMMMM....MMmmmmmm!!!!!....you get a free T-Shirt if you eat the whole pie yourself....I have about 20 T-Shirts.. :)
