Looking for ports in NJ

I did the trip too belmar from jones inlet long island took about two hours....went with the whole family and had a great time...Nice marina, friendly people, plenty of restaraunts, free shuttle from the marina to the beach all day long I would recommend it to anyone and I will be back again this summer..............

Belmar has always been a great place except in the 70's when they had the riots. But thank God the country has moved past that. There is also a good dive shop just over the Route 35 bridge in Neptune. I spent many a summer there with family and on my father's boat fishing and diving. There is also lots of nightlife for those wanting action as well as good resturants. Take care. Bill

Belmar is nice. We enjoyed it.

Point Pleasant is nicer IMO but there are no marinas near the beach area. There is one marina in the back of the Manasquan river , Crystal Point Yacht Club that has nice floating docs, pool, etc. It is hard to get a transient slip their though. We stayed at the Brielle Marine Basin last time and it was a nice marina but rock and roll central with all the boats on the inlet.

The wife and I took a ride to Belmar this past weekend. I have to say I wasn't that impressed. The docks look nice but otherwise the area is under major construction. Lots of little places to eat but the closest is several blocks away.

Not saying we decided not to go there but based on the video I expected much more than seems to be....

Rommer come summer and you wouldn't recognize Belmar. It's as if the town converts take it from someone with family and that spent years there. Driving around this time of year can give you a bad impression.

Looking to go up the Navesink River to Molly Pitcher marina to stay a day or two. I heard there are size restrictions. 40'and above. Is this true. Has anyone stayed there? Much to do there? Any other recommendations as a place to stay as a transient for a few days. Thanks

Thanks for all the info.....

With the price of fuel, this thought is done.

GA 48, the molly pitcher is a rather nice marina; it is smack dab in the middle of Red Bank, NJ which is a cool little town with a ton of restaurants and decent shopping for the Mrs. I know that the molly pitcher has some really large boats that are there for the season; I was not aware of the a transient restriction; but the dock master will surely let you know.

Anyone drafting more then 3' should really plan this trip on a rising tide. The Navesink was shoaled badly last year right by barley point; and the channel snakes a good bit. The first shallow point is right where the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers split.

Those river were our stomping grounds until last year mid season when we moved due to being restricted by the tides.
