G,
dont apologize ... I think ur right
I flipped on a old man trolling side to side in the channel . I shot him a look like u got to be kidding me . Its at best a 40 ' wide channel This elderly MORON is in a 20 something CC and trolling with 4 poles side to side... So he flips me the bird and I went off on a tirade that my wife smacked me ... I felt better after ... I think the cars on the wantagh parkway heard me though....

Rob, I hear you and as you know I am a fisherman, pretty crappy one , but I try. It is really crazy what these guy do, I really don't get it, actually I do, they are fishing where the fish are (maybe thats one of many reasons I am a crappy fisherman). But heres the deal, you know your not suppose to be there, so WTF with fliping the bird, IMO it adds insult to injury to do that.

I try like hell to deal with this stuff in a civil matter, but like you, I some times lose it, When I lose it there are no words or looks, I just lower my speed so my boat is squating and throw him the biggest wake I can, then I watch and laugh when I swamp him.

I do this at the bridges, and going through Moriches, In other areas like the State Channel (where there is plenty of room and water) I actually slow down and work around them. When I was coming home from Cedar last week, there was a boater drifting the State Channel, so being the nice guy I am I moved away from him which put me on the wrong side of the channel, a small boat was heading my way and was pissed and not moving his course (because I was on the wrong side of the channel). He was able to see what I did and why I was where I was, but he had that FU attitude. So as he passed me within inches, I squated the boat and rocked his world :).

Could this be called Boat Rage :)

.............and I thought I was the only one who did such a thing.

Cant Understand Normal Thinking

Sums it up right there....

: )

Rob

All things considered would you really want to put an old man in the water for fishing, wrong or right. That is water rage. It's the same as on Long Island roads. We hold onto that spot our car is in and won't let anyone in front of us. That extra 8 feet of road is mine and nobody is going to get it. I am getting to where I am before you. I realize that he his wrong fishing in the channel but there are other ways to handle it.

Al,
Go drive ur tail over to zachs bay. Go under the working draw bridge head south to the bridge under construction . Picture ur in 14 beam boat and u draft 4 feet of water... Then comment.

They see the size of ur boat . They know better then anyone the landscape of the water. So yea Im pissed off and there arrogance. We all have to get along and play nice. U get one to many aholes in one day and one tends to loose there cool. So walk a day in the guys that are complainings shoes and ull see all is not rosey. RESPECT .... dont give it U don't get it ...

Rob

Rob, I think you need to find a new hobby! Or like I said, keep your boat at the Anchorage and don't go west, it's much more relaxing :)

John,
I m trying to get slip at the anchorage that better accomodates my vessel. Walter appears to have me blk balled from any purchasing. Any help would be appreciated.

Can we Tase fishing aholes ? Imagine them having to explain that the the coasties... Well u see i was tied to the channel marker and my fishing lines were streched across the channel and for no reason at all this guy in a silverton flybridge tased my ass.... FOR NO GOOD REASON!!!

Rob

Rob.........forget the TASER.........You....Me & Walter should buy one of these.......and "clean out" under the bridges and the channels....... on weekends.

Do you think we can keep it at the Anchorage ??????

Rob
I frequent Zachs bay and I have a 30 ft boat. Not as big but we all know its not the size but how you use it. I have experienced all of what you said and it is frustrating. I am in no way condoning it. I just think that by trying too put someone in the drink is reckless. Write it off and lets get on. On Long Island where we boat we are in close quarters compared to everyone else.Real small boats and real large all within feet of each other at times We all know the weekends are especially tough here. Remember pay it forward.
This season is almost over and I hope all have a safe and enjoyable winter. See you next year and if someone ends up in the water I will be the first too pull them out.
Al

Don, To funny,,, Only thing missing is the middle fingure needs to be up on all the crew

"I just think that by trying too put someone in the drink is reckless."

Al,
IMO, what is reckless, is having them tied to the bridge or anchored right by the narrow entrance to the bridge. Their lack of regard for rules and safety is what is reckless.

I enjoy boating and do it to relax and have fun, when someone puts me, my boat and my crew in danger, the gloves come off. If it is not a dangerous or potentially dangerous situations, then I go out of my way to navigate around the fisherman and slow down, after all, I am in no hurry while boating.

We all know how narrow are waterways are and the lack of water if you deviate out of them. As Rob said, your really need to walk in our shoes. I have had a couple of close calls at the bridges because I use to slow down to be courteous, not a good idea when the current is running strong. Which by the way is the ideal conditions to fish the bridges (strong current).

Just my 2c
