Been Using Buff Magic for a while now and love the stuff. Always had colored hulls on my previous boats and never really noticed until now on my white hull, how much black this stuff takes off of stainless steel. Constantly battling the black swirls from what ever stainless I hit. I have 6 pads so I change them frequently. Took me a day and half to buff and wax 1 side and the transom, plus I finally broke my Harbor Freight polisher. Really bit into the boat and fell out of my hands while on the ladder split in half. Luckily had a 20% off coupon so replaced it for 40 bucks. New one feels heavier and has a higher rpm. You can tell its boat season. 2 Harbor freights were sold out and I got the last one in Hempstead. All in all buff magic works great.

It "appears" Saint Max may have been PoliGlo'd. Will Buff Magic cut this stuff?

Almost totaled my HF polisher, didn't drop it, two close calls winding the power cord into the wheel. No sparks, black tape now.

Ha almost cried today. Wound the cord up in the wheel of the new machine and cut it in half. Nothing like having a new tool with tape on the cord after the first use.

You will have to work very hard to get it off.

Try a chemical way first.

I am on my 3rd or 4th HF polisher. Why spend $150-$250 for a Makita or PC polisher that will get the cord rung up on the wheel or dropped in an odd moment just as easily as the expensive polishers? Even being on my 4th HF polisher over the last 10-15 yrs, I'm still ahead of the game money-wise. I have yet to wear out the polisher-accidents usually are fatal.

I'm still on my 1st Makita about 10 year and still going strong! I have used the HF version and it is hard to compare them. I have a few body shops as customers and not one of them uses a HF buffer.

It's because none of us HF users on here make our living with a polisher. Daily, weekly use MIGHT wear one down, MAYBE.
For the few times a year users, like most of us HF is the best bang for the buck.
I'm amazed that my HF $30.00 hammer drill is still pounding holes in concrete. Drilled maybe 100 holes in 3 years, I'm money ahead.

Buy an extension cord and cut the end off. Wire it into the unit. 10 minute fix

One issue with cheap polishers is how much they vibrate.

Makita, Flex tools vibrate very little, it at all, and yes you can drop them with them breaking up.

The cheapo units vibrate and are much louder.

When doing 2-3 days of polishing with them it makes a difference in the wear and tear on me the user.

I have cheapo units and they stay in the garage. My 2 Flex units are the go to for my boats and my cars.

David, Buff Magic won't touch Poli Glow. As said above, try to use a floor wax stripper or buy the Poli Glow product for removal. Either way, you have your work cut out for you. You'll need LOTS of clean rags because they fill up with crud fast. I hate this product for all the problems it causes after application.

David,
Don't even think of buffing it off, it will blind a pad in about 2 seconds. Go to Home Depot and buy a gallon of ZEP detergent. Wet the boat and spray the ZEP on full strength. The PG will turn orange and melt off. Don't let the ZEP dry , keep it washed off as you go. Really not too bad, of a job. I did my 29 ft. Sundancer in about 2 hours. Any questions, gimme a call. H

Good Grief

I use BM with foam pads and I use Snappy Clean to clean the pads. It works great!! I get it at Autopia. I also buy my pads at Autopia and I use the 7 Inch Lake Country Kompressor White Polishing Foam Pads.

Good luck

I keep 7 pads, and buy one new one per year and usually retire one. To clean, I use Wisk and water in a 5 gallon bucket. Let them soak a few days and use a hose to rinse

TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) works as well, just do not let them soak as long as it is a bit harsher

David as others have said you'll need floor wax stripper or the PoliGlow removal formula.
