A question for the oil junkies...I recently changed my gear oil in a 1994 Cobra SX. The recomended lube is Johnson-Evinrude (used to be OMC) Ultra-HPF. When I filled the drive I only bought 64 oz and I think the drive takes 72. I wanted to get the boat out Sunday, so this left me scrambling to find this brand of gear oil. It doesn't seem to be carried regularly by anyone on my side of towm. The question I have is does it really matter that you use this particular lube brand. Last I checked J/E is not refining their own oil. How about something like Penzoil Marine 75w-90 (Walmart) or Mobil 1? As long as it is gl-5 does it really matter?
