Never mind my friend's boat with the cracked gimbal ring, time to get started on my remaining boat.
I've got a 1999 Mercruiser 454mpi, with a Bravo III. I bought a bigger boat in 2000, which I just sold. The little boat has been neglected for many years now, but it's once again my primary vessel, so I'm looking for advice on what to replace/adjust to get it going again.
On the drive, besides changing the gear lube, and anodes every year, it has not had any adjustments, or maintenance since summer of 2001, when I had the drive removed to replace the coupler.
The engine is all original, except for a new starter, a few freshwater impellars, and annual oil changes. I think I had the spark plugs replaced in 2001, nothing done since then.
Where do I start? Last time I ran the boat was in October 2004, ran fine back then, and was properly winterized, fogged, fuel stabilized, oil changed, etc. I have a new battery, and some annodes.
Engine is raw water cooled, mostly run in saltwater, I'm guessing about 500 or so hours on it.
Trailer is looking pretty rough too.
