Sometimes I feel that is about where I am.
It certainly is an impressive rather fun figure but unfortunately it is the product of a high-mileage internet/email hoax.
According to Snopes , the average figure is more like 40-50 feet traveled per gallon of fuel. That's about 100x more ,ah, "footage" than the hoax claims ,.... but still small enough to make the rest of us stinkpotters feel pretty relieved about our vessel's relative economy.

So 10,000 gal per mile say 3000 mi across the ocean so. About 30 million gallons to cross the Atlantic. Yea, I'd say it's a hoax.
One of the best things that ever happened to me was starting engineering before calculators and learning the slide rule. It forces you to do an approximation to get the range before the slide rule gives you the digits. Makes it easy to spot silly statistics etc.
