I have a manual Willcox/Citroden head. Has anyone converted this to electric with the Jabsco conversion kit and how well did it work?

If you're talking about the Jabsco conversion that simply replaces the manual pump (#292000), and has a twist-knob on top to activate it, they do work but they have a tendency toward clogging and are noisy enough to wake the dead. Kurt (Mixman), who posts regularly here, has one. He can give you the real lowdown on it if he reads this post and chooses to respond.

See picture in right column, next-to-last item down: http://www.boatfix.com/catalog/598.pdf

The Jabsco #37010 conversion kit is better, albeit rather pricey. The best "bang for the buck" in my opinion is the Raritan SeaEra conversion kit, #160LI012 (about 3/4 the way down the page):

http://www.boatfix.com/bykeywordnew2.asp?whichpage=2&pagesize=80&textfield=Raritan&texttype=2 It is more durable than the Jabsco 37010, and BoatFix offers it at a lower price.

Vic, thanks for the information. It seams like the more information the more complicated it gets. I am going to see if Mixman responds before I do something.

RDuhon, the wife and I have boated from Galveston to Pensacola. We used to live in Iowa(17 years) and kept the boat at Bowtie Marina. I wish we still lived in that area, the boat would still be at Bowtie. Nowadays, we go a lot to Vermilion Bay.

We will be in Lake Charles for the Contraband Festival, the second weekend. Might see you then. We are going as the Acadiana Boat Cruising Club. Check our web site: http://www.acadianaboatcruisingclub.com/

To be honest I think I'd go with the Raritan conversion over the Jabsco. The Jabsco 37010 is NOISY. I think the Raritan should be a lot quieter as it has a different type of fill pump.

I have the Jabsco 37010 conversion and it works very well. It is noisy though. I don't mind.
