We had a call today from the marina where my new to me '89 300 Sundancer is located. Seems I have some canvas to repair. That big coastal storm on Mon. blew strong out of the east, exactly the direction my stern is pointing; with those big aft camper curtains. The stitching on the zippers attaching the aft curtains to the back of the top gave way and the entire aft curtain blew into the cockpit. I went down this evening and found it hanging by the side panel zippers and a few snaps. There was no ripped fabric so I attached the zipper back to the top with a bunch of large safety pins until the canvas guy can come out and restitch everything. All in all a minor problem but I can tell you that when you hear a guy on the phone tell you that the boat you just bought last week "may have an insurance claim" your heart jumps into your throat.
The canvas guy said he will try to get it resewn this week if the weather cooperates.

Fortunately it's just the stitching! Ours has the original Sunbrella and the thread was popping everytime we put it up last fall. I had all the seams resewn last winter. It should be good to 45 mph and for a few more years! The mooring cover is what we use when we get it home and have it sitting on the trailer. It needed a good cleaning and then waterproofing. It's good to go now. I'm still amazed that it's all original. The eisenglass has been replaced once on the back half. It might need it again in the near future. We'll see! So you see, restitching might have been required anyway!!
