Has anyone replace a manual Jabsco with the ME? Was wonder how difficult it is. Can you use the existing discharge hose and the fresh water supply from the head sink? Also is it recommended to run the 12V directy from the battery?

Thanks in advance
Dale

I did this upgrade back in March of this year. You should be able to use the same dishcarge hose. The fresh water can come from anywhere. Wiring should have a fuse or breaker in it, but can also come from different places as long as you have the correct sized wire. You can find the information for this in the manual on page 6:

You'll love the upgrade if you do it. The ME is a great head and is leaps and bounds above a manual.

Just keep in mind that all water, waste, and wires need to come in the back or under the footprint of the unit. If you get the square back unit it sits tight to the wall.

That depends. I got the standard backed unit, but the connections for the old Jabsco came from the side. The holding tank is right
behind the head, so I left things as-is. You can see a few pics from before and during the installation at this thread:

But here's the end result (with Bosun looking on):

My connections are like Kurts. My boat had an old Jabsco raw water electric head. I replaced it with a Vacu-Flush. Due to my wife's medical conditions the VF would routinely clog and back up. I replaced the VF with the Elegance. I have not had a single issue in 2 seasons with the Elegance. I believe the ME would eat and chew up golf balls. It is one heck a head and probably the last I will ever have to install.

Thanks for all of the info. Looks like a pretty simple instal so I am going to give it a go!!

Toilet arrived yesterday after extremely fast shipping from boatfix. Install will be this afternoon - I will let you know how it goes.

ME installation was extemely easy. After a weeks usage I can say I am very pleased. Girlfriend is even more pleased with the upgrade. Only difficulty was finding 15 MM pex fittings to T into the freshwater system. Make sure you check your line size and plan ahead as 15 MM was not available in stock in my area.

Great, glad to hear it. I'm sure you'll be spending lots of quality time with it in the near future :-)

Same here. When I installed mine I kept thinking; "This is way to easy. What am I doing wrong?" :)
