Marine Sanitation Device: Holding Tank

Who carries a waste treatment plan as part of their documents? I believe any vessel that contains an MSD type 1, II and or a type III must carry one.

I just read this that in addition to waste management plan:

In addition, 33 CFR 151.59 requires that all vessels 26 feet or greater in length have a
MARPOL Annex V placard prominently displayed for the crew and passengers
regardless of whether your boat operates on inland waters or the ocean.
 
When in question with those placards, I just buy them and post them (like the "engine bildge" placard that I don't need since I have outboards - it's posted on my boat anyway).

Bill, what's the vessel starting size for needing a printed waste/trash management plan, 40' and over I think?
 
I'm not sure of the size that requires it but I have one.

As of this moment, twenty nine people have participated in the "poll". That's a pretty poor showing.

Educating boaters on marine sanitation is a valid goal, but I can't see how a poll does this. I also don't understand why the thread is not in the Marine Sanitation section of this forum where those interested in the subject would logically look for it.

Lastly, anyone interested in marine sanitation would do well to find and study a copy of Peggy Hall's book, "Get Rid of Boat Odors: A Boat Owner's Guide to Marine Sanitation Systems and Other Sources of Aggravation and Odor"

Ron things around here have been a bit slow I for one welcome the thread if your not interested it's ok not to comment and just ignore.
Frankly I'm a little surprised by your reaction to this! If Les had an issue with it or it's location it wouldn't be here anymore.
 
Kurt I don't know the answer to the question "what size boat needs a waste treatment plan"? I always assumed it was any vessel with a head, even if they have no MSD system and simply lock the head when inside the limit be it 3 miles or 9 miles. Now if you're in the Great Lakes you would have to either install a type III MSD or remove the head if you had no holding tank.

It's pretty obvious why it's slow around here, nothing but pointless arguing.

If you had read the book by the recognized expert in marina sanitation, you would know that it is about exactly what is being discussed here, marine sanitation systems.

It appears you are one of the few that for some strange reason feel the need to antagonize the person that started the thread.
I don't remember Peggy being on BE I do remember when Vic William was here.
If this thread helps one boater get educated we are all better off.

I have never heard of a waste TREATMENT plan.

Waste MANAGEMENT plan, yes, it is required on any vessel over 39' and most boats do not have it. It s basically just a piece of paper stating where trash will be stored and discarded. It has nothing to do with waste (from the heads)

You are the one arguing pointlessly about the fact that a poll was used. Read the posts above and you ll see that obviously some boaters are not familiar with the rules. Who cares if the thread started with a poll or a post..

So far 817 people have looked at the thread, that is what counts.

That's the one! At 30' I just knew I didn't need it, but I knew it existed.
