I don't know... I would never run that fast that close to anchored boats especially with 20 or 30 pax in the back

On an earlier pass one of them almost hit two jet skis that were passing behind us and hidden from his view till the last second

I ve seen them flying under bridges flat out passing within 20' of bridge piles. All it take is one engine problem or just hiting a log with one wheel to send the boat and his 30 pax into the bridge

Looks like a "common practice". I would write a letter to the local CG commandant with a rational statement of the activity, and the perceived hazards and/or infractions. Incl "8x10 glossy photographs" * ( ie: a DVD of clips etc ) to support the statements, and request that the CG check it out in person to gather their own data.

Pros know better. Many not-so-pros know this as well. If you keep acting in a risky manner, the odds WILL win. Safety is a process...
 
Is not passing within 100' of a bridge piling above no wake speed illegal in FL? It is in GA.
 
I m not sure. Most bridges are posted NWZ. I never looked at the signs on this one.

I reported a couple incidents where container ships or tankers running into the bay or thru the bay, kicking out 3-4 ft wakes and a container ship running into the bay just outside the GGB with an incoming and large swells pushing her to a 7' wake. Almost swamped me. The wake covered every inch of the entrance to the bay.

You know what the CG said...'there's no speed limit'. No mention about a very dangerous wake.
 
The truth is the the USCG rarely enforces general safety rules and always refers you to local law enforcement. In FL that's FWC

I posted the video on their Facebook page. They replied...

Hopefully they ll have a chat with the operators
 
We had one of those fast tourist boats here for a while. They sell speed and going fast in the open ocean is not as exciting. Going fast under a bridge with limited visibility id just stupid. In this area small boats are frequently near bridges and out of sight.
 
They dice it out with the float planes in St Thomas.
 
Different here on a small lake in upstate NY. Boaters here tend to "educate" offenders whithout the need for law enforcement. Not the most preferred method but effective.

Are you saying a guy with at least a USCG 100 Master needs to be educated?
 
Nothing About being a USCG Master, don't care much about that. It's got more to do with being a jerk and not respecting other people's rights and property.

We have a bridge here in my neck of the woods "third bridge on the Wantagh Parkway" that many moons ago (when I was a child) that the current running through the bridge at certain times, required a faster speed to navigate it safely. I am not sure since the new bridge was installed if that is still the case. Point is, the speed to navigate through a bridge may be different depending on circumstances.
